In this role, you’ll lead and grow a talented engineering team to build an industry-leading ads indexing system, empowering Pinterest engineers to continuously process billions of product items and petabytes of ads delivery and machine learning data.
What you’ll do
- Lead a high-impact engineering team focused on key company objectives, fostering collaboration with product and machine learning teams to directly influence numerous advertising product launches and improvements.
- Lead the team building the next-generation ads indexing infrastructure for greater scalability, freshness, and performance by efficiently handling billions of entries and petabytes of data. Leverage data storage, streaming processing, and information retrieval technologies like TiDB, Iceberg, Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
- Mentor engineers of all levels, guiding their career development, setting technical direction, overseeing execution, and nurturing positive team health and culture.
- Act as a stalwart of technical quality and excellence on the team, ensuring the solutions we deliver have a high level of polish and reliability
What we’re looking for:
- 2+ years of management experience, and/or tech lead experiences in 8+ people team (3+ years).
- 8+ years of industry experience in large scale data platforms. Relevant experience with data indexing and/or stream processing.
- Strong technical and leadership skills. Able to dive deep and provide technical directions/guidance to team members.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with ads delivery domain.
- (Preferred) Experience in supporting internal developers and improving developer velocity.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration [1 times per week] and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices [San Francisco or Palo Alto].
