TITLE: Hydrogeologist
RESPONSIBLE/REPORTING TO: Managing Partners
ROLE: Gila Geological Consultants LLC is looking for a Hydrogeologist for their Globe-Miami office. Professional roles are needed for environmental and groundwater development projects. Most of the project work is mining related. A person with a strong regulatory background that has knowledge of groundwater modeling, pump testing and environmental geochemistry is preferred.
LOCATION: This position is located in Globe, Arizona. This is a rural area approximately 80 miles from the Phoenix metropolitan area. This historic town is at an altitude of approximately 3,500 feet located in the heart of Arizona’s Tonto National Forest. The summers are hot, dry, and mostly clear and the winters are cold and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 34°F to 96°F and is rarely below 26°F or above 101°F.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Requires working on active and inactive mine sites. This involves working in a mine setting with uneven terrain and variable climatic changes.
· Working and coordinating with mining clients and environmental laboratories on an on-going basis. Monitoring laboratory quality assurance and data reporting.
· Monitoring groundwater, surface water, and stormwater field data collection execution and procedures.
- Strong database management and data logger instrumentation skills required.
· Production well siting, drilling, development, pump testing and pump sizing in fractured rock aquifer systems.
- Developing 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional groundwater models on occasion.
- Fieldwork may be required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
- Candidates must be able to foster a positive work environment.
- Candidate may be required to supervise and direct junior staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Groundwater modeling experience required.
- Knowledge of geochemistry is a plus.
- Knowledge of surface and groundwater chemistry is a plus.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS a plus.

SCHEDULE: Typical work schedules are Monday through Friday; however, since this role involves field and drilling programs, candidates amenable to temporarily working a rotating shift schedule that includes days, weekend and nights are preferred.
