The intern will primarily collaborate with the Program Director and operations team in building out the CTAP program infrastructure strategy and related research projects. This team’s mission is to expand the charging infrastructure for a growing fleet of commercial EVs, focusing on siting, installation and accessibility via partnerships.

As an intern, you will support Dollaride in defining a portfolio of EV charging services to bolster the company’s target market segment and ultimately scale the CTAP program. Primary responsibilities include leading EVSE infrastructure projects, performing market analysis and collaborating with technology vendors. In turn, this position will impart invaluable industry insight and knowledge directly applied to clean energy technologies and business practices.

The role will include a variety of workflows including but not limited to:

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) infrastructure, data management and insight development
EVSE site assessments
Screening of EVSE solutions based on technology assessments, financial viability, cost comparisons, logistics challenges, and market capture potential
EVSE site partnership pipeline development
Go-to-market strategies and business feasibility studies
Presentation development for management and support of strategic and ad hoc projects

Additionally, the intern will prepare a capstone project related to EVSE and clean energy business model strategy. Representative concept paper topics could include:

Converting underutilized parking lots (i.e. on church property) into charging depots to support delivery or other EV transportation services
Researching cost effective strategies to support charging across a wide variety of geographies, vehicles, and use-cases
Designing repeatable partnership models that would expand Dollaride’s access to existing or forthcoming charging infrastructure
These topics are examples and the precise project topic will be reshaped according to the intern’s unique skills and interests.

Qualifications

You are someone who:

Thrives in a fast-paced and often-ambiguous setting with tight deadlines
Conducts and leverages data aggregation, technical analysis and market research to produce strategic insight and operational priorities
Can effectively produce multi-faceted and data-driven studies related to clean transportation market dynamics
Scales technical learning curves quickly, can investigate and overcome unforeseen operations challenges with creativity and structure, and can do so independently
Takes creative approaches to developing practical solutions to complex analytical problems and wildcards
Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
Shares Dollaride’s core values of supporting equity in transit and understands the importance of finding solutions to clean transportation market development challenges
Possesses prior background including:
Knowledge of EV market or clean energy mobility solutions is preferred
Experience in strategic planning, market research, finance, or other field-based in business planning preferred
Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience prior to Master’s program or 6 years of experience in a related field

Per New York State program requirements, you must meet one of the following criteria:

Currently attending or have attended a degree program at a college or university located in New York State within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application.
Be a New York State resident attending or who has attended a degree program at a college or university outside of New York State within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application. New York State residency, with proof of residency such as rental agreement or utility bills, must have been established prior to the start of the internship. Interns moving to the state for an internship do not qualify under this category.
Be a New York State resident who is a member of a Disadvantaged Community (DAC) and/or Priority Population.

Start and end date: June 1 – August 30, full-time for 12 weeks

Compensation: total compensation is $8,160 for this 12 week internship. Additionally funding may be available for students through their university programs.

Location: the role is based out of Dollaride’s office location at the Urban Future Lab (370 Jay St, 7th Floor, Brooklyn, NY), but the team primarily works remotely.
