The anticipated Pay for this position is $19.80
POSITION SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities concerned with the documentation and routing of outgoing freight. The administrator also verifies and coordinates reshipment of incoming freight by performing the following duties.
Core Responsibilities
- Directs activities assigning tariff classifications according to type and weight of freight or merchandise; routing and scheduling shipment by air, rail, or truck; and preparing billings from tariff and classification manuals.
- Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.
- Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
- Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.
- Schedules shipments to ensure compliance with interstate traffic laws and regulations and company policies.
Qualifying Experience
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
