We’re looking for a technically skilled Fabrication Manager who enjoys developing their team and greets challenges with a “let’s figure it out” attitude.
In this role, you'll lead our metal fabrication and paint teams, ensure that quality standards and production deadlines are met, collaborate with other department leaders on common goals, and promote Lean manufacturing practices. What you’ll do as the Fabrication Manager:
- Lead, coach, manage, and train all direct reports. Support each team member’s growth and development. Delegate initiatives through the Lean Group Leads and work center Leads.
- Ensure efficient coordination and movement of fabrication orders through the production process.
- Partner with other department managers to ensure adequate staffing, communication, and flow.
- Readily take responsibility for individual and department performance.
- Investigate and resolve production quality or machine maintenance issues.
- Drive improvements in manufacturing and product flow throughout the production process, including sheet metal punching, forming, rivet, spot-welding, laser, and paint.
- Coach, direct, and promote a culture of continuous improvement; apply Lean principles to teamwork and processes (waste, flow, level work, etc.).
- Use 5 Why’s, A3s, and other Lean tools to seek the root cause and revise inefficient processes.
- Support development and implementation of Lean Standard Work for each phase of the fabrication and painting processes.
- Develop and maintain departmental KPI reporting to track production, efficiency, accuracy, quality, and other issues.
- Train and monitor staff regarding safety issues, such as proper use of PPE and OSHA/WISHA compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field or technical training/trade school education and additional years of experience beyond the required minimums.
- Min. of 8 years’ experience with hands-on metal fabrication or metal shop work including at least three years of turret experience and 2 years of press brake experience. CNC experience is a must.
- Min. of 5 years’ experience managing a team of 10 or more employees, ideally in a fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environment.
- Thorough understanding of metal fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of bend theory.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience and passion for motivating people, instilling accountability, and achieving results.
- Attention to detail with emphasis on process discipline, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Strong digital literacy in modern software/programs and proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Ability to use critical thinking and intermediate mathematics to solve complex problems.
- Ability to read, write, speak, create, understand, and explain English directions, documents, safety rules, and other work related information.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a department or business unit.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience utilizing and implementing Lean principles.
- Experience using data analysis to drive department level decision making.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP systems.
Physical Demands
- This is not a desk job. You will spend the majority of your day on the shop floor moving between work centers and buildings.
- Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs., occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly stand in one spot, walk, twist, bend, or reach; occasionally sit, squat, or crouch.
- Safely navigate the warehouse environment using vision and hearing abilities.

Pay & Benefits:
- The full pay range for this position is $105,000 to $115,000 based on relevant experience, education, and training, as well as market and business considerations.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401(k) with up to 4% match.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
Hours & Address:
- This is a 100% on-site, full-time opportunity. Factory hours are 7:00am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.
