Overview
The Staff – Revenue/Technical Accountant is a key collaborator in the execution of daily and monthly operations of revenue accounting and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies. The role will also be expected to assist with understanding and interpreting technical accounting, implementing revenue process improvements, and assisting with various aspects of the billing/revenue systems. The Staff - Revenue Accountant also assists with month-end reporting and the year-end audit. This is a hybrid role in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
Execute review of sales contracts, including escalation of significant and/or non-standard deals to Technical Accounting team, to ensure revenue recognition aligns with ASC 606 guidance and Company policies.
Ensure all sales data moves from Salesforce CPQ (sales quote) into Sage Intacct (accounting software) accurately for revenue recognition and timely client invoicing.
Partner with Service Operations, ensure accuracy of time and billing rates in Origami’s time tracking system and move this data into Intacct for accurate and timely revenue recognition.
Assist with requests from Sales and Sales Operations Teams related to standard revenue recognition and other related matters
Assist with requests from Accounts Receivable team related to client terms and invoicing requirements per the contract.
Update client’s ongoing support revenue start dates to align with start of these services upon implementation for accurate revenue recognition.
Complete month-end close activities including, revenue, deferred revenue and unbilled revenue reconciliations,.
Assist with determining monthly revenue analysts and forecasts.
Participate in process improvement initiatives for Order to Cash process
Conduct research and collaborate in preparation of documentation associated with accounting
standard adoptions and policy updates
Assist in external financial audits including preparation of PBCs/supporting schedules and providing
timely response to audit questions.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of authoritative accounting guidance on ASC 606 revenue recognition
Collaborate in ad-hoc project work as assigned by the Technical Accounting Team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
1+ year of experience in Accounting
Experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm is a plus. Strong knowledge of US GAAP; experience handling complex accounting matters and demonstrating competency in US GAAP, current accounting regulations and internal controls
In pursuit of or possessing a CPA license is a plus
Experience with Salesforce CPQ and/or Intacct is a plus
The ability to partner with and influence cross-functional personnel
