The Financial Controller NA will lead all operational aspects of the Finance department for Jellycat Inc, which covers the North America region. The post holder will provide day-to-day management of financial control activities and support the VP Finance NA in ensuring the corporation operates with robust controls which meet the needs of a fast-growing business.
This role requires a well-organised professional with a strong background in finance and accounting, capable of working closely with operational and sales teams in order to deliver excellence in financial control and reporting. They will be an confident communicator, providing strong leadership to their team and clarity and transparency to management. Their methods will provide assurance on the control of the business as it goes through a period of rapid growth.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Lead the financial control function in delivering finance operations, including accounts payable, treasury, inventory accounting, intercompany and month end close.
- Prepare and present comprehensive management accounts to the NA and Group functions covering wholesale, website and marketplace channels
- Support the VP Finance NA and operational teams in developing budgets, forecasts and commercial insights in collaboration with the Global FP&A team and NA leadership
- Report on agreed KPIs and indicators for the business
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data, meeting Group and local requirements, including audit working papers
- Deliver effective internal controls are implemented and maintained to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain strong processes for approving travel and expenses
- With the VP Finance NA, ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and standards
- Identify and implement process improvements and efficiency initiatives to optimize financial performance
- Coach and develop the finance team to support their development and meet the needs of the business as it grows
- Ensure compliance with direct and indirect taxes in North America
Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Behaviors
- Recognized qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Bachelor's degree. MBA or CPA preferred
- Proven experience (5+ years) in an finance leadership role, preferably within the retail or distribution industry
- Demonstrable ownership of financial principles, practices, and regulations
- Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions
- Impeccable integrity, leading by example in acting in the best interests of the corporation
- Proficiency in financial analysis, PowerBI, Excel and ERP systems (MS Dynamics preferred)
