As we continue to grow, we need an experienced Payroll Accountant, someone who can manage the payroll process and other accounting functions withing the North America team. The role currently sits within the the HR team and reports into the Director of Human Resources and will eventually transition to the VP of Finance.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Manage and successfully process accurate bi-weekly payroll cycles for the US and bi-monthly cycles for Canada.
- Verify timekeeping records and ensure accuracy of hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation elements.
- Conduct payroll compliance checks to ensure employees are paid accurately.
- Ensure accuracy in data entry and payroll calculations through audits while maintaining confidential payroll records.
- Stay updated on federal and multi-state labor laws and regulations related to payroll to ensure company compliance.
- Set up and manage out-of-state employee payroll taxes.
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll, tax with holdings, and other deductions promptly and professionally.
- Provide a high level of confidential customer service to internal and external customers.
- Generate and maintain payroll reports.
- Create accounting entries relating to payroll and work with financial control team to maintain control account reconciliations.
- Complete payroll-related forms and documentation[AF1] .
- Manage employee expense processes through the Concur system including review and challenge and ensuring correct application of company policies and procedures.
- Provide Finance business partnering for the HR department including budget setting and management in collaboration with VP Finance
- Manage designated suppliers on AP and provide accounting support as agreed to support the financial control team.
- Continually upgrade knowledge and skill base related to the systems, processes, and requirements to maintain capabilities at the highest possible level.
- Other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.

- Proficient knowledge of ADP Work Force Now and Time & Attendance.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant or similar role.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associates degree with 2 years’ experience while using a full-service payroll processing system (ADP, etc.) or equivalent experience required.
- Multi-state payroll processing experience required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
