The Environmental Health and Safety Project Specialist primary focus is to Stand up the Process Safety Management Program (PSM) at Ursa Major. This position will report to the Environmental Manager. The EHS Safety Project Engineer will work with SRM team to take a proactive approach to safety. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for personal and environmental safety while also taking a team-focused approach to solving safety concerns and maintaining systems.
Responsibilities:
- Stand up the Process Safety Management Program (PSM) at Ursa Major.
- Assess process design and refining processes related to process safety management.
- Deploy online and in-person safety training at Ursa. Create trainings as necessary.
- Assist audits and audit tracking of safety compliance across the site.
- Act as administrator for EHS Management System.
- Create engaging, team-based actions to reduce injury risk and improve prevention, including participation in Job Hazard Analysis activities.
- Maintain the SDS database and support new chemical approvals.
- Support compliance in waste stream storage and disposal.
- Bring a sustainable, eco-friendly, and unique approach to tackling site challenges.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety and Occupational Health Sciences, Engineering , or related field.
- Experience with process safety management
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards
- Thorough understanding of OSHA and/or similar safety related requirements/code.
- Demonstrated experience developing procedures
- Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements
- Experience in safety compliance inspection/assessment during construction
Preferred Experience
- Experience with regulations specifically pertaining to chemical, electrical, explosive hazards
- Experience with various explosive/energetics regulations, quantity distance and responsible person requirements
- Passion to keep safety an important part of Ursa’s culture, not just check the box.
- Hands on experience with equipment, preferable in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications
- Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and excavation
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $80,000 - $120,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
