We are seeking a Structural Engineering Specialist (Bridge design) with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience for a position with our Transportation & Infrastructure group in our Chicago, IL office.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including fixed and moveable highway bridges, retaining wall structures, and culverts
- Construction document production, including drawings and specifications.
- Participating in bridge condition inspections and inspections of other transportation related structures, and inspection report preparation.
- Bridge load ratings.
- Review of shop drawings.
The qualified candidate must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of structural engineering design and analysis fundamentals
- Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge design standards, structural design software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Valid driver's license
Additional positive attributes include:
- EIT/FE certification
- Familiarity with Illinois DOT structural analysis and design software and plan preparation.
- Experience in analysis and design of bridges, including rehabilitation design.
- Experience in hands-on bridge inspection.
- Experience with Microstation/AutoCAD, MS Office, Finite Element Analysis.
- Experience in use in OpenRoads, OpenBridge, and Projectwise software packages.
- HEC RAS and bridge hydraulic experience and scour evaluation.

Compensation Range:
