Wage Range: $23.61 - $35.64 per hour plus additional per diem rate
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:
The Patient Account Representative is a member of the MFM-P team, whose primary responsibilities include scheduling appointments, greeting patients, maintaining patient records, performing basic telephone triage, posting patient charges (in absence of Clinic Manager), and providing administrative duties as needed.
Primary Duties:
- Greets/checks in patients and obtains necessary information for billing purposes and completes full registration.
- Coordinates all aspects of patient scheduling to include creating initial and follow up in-person or virtual visit appointments; rescheduling, cancelling, and managing appointments in a fashion that meets patient care needs and optimizes provider schedules.
- Manages incoming telephone calls. Takes complete and accurate messages and coordinate communication between appropriate interdisciplinary staff. Coordinates emergent or add-on patient care requests with clinical team and provider.
- Pulls and verifies that the patient chart is complete and contains required records, forms, reports, referrals, authorizations, and all other pertinent records. Follows up to obtain relevant information when necessary.
- May obtain information required to verify active insurance coverage and pre-authorizations for billing purposes, depending on department.
- Performs standard billing procedures to ensure the accuracy of patient account and vendor account records. Posts charges accurately and within established timeframe and sends copies of documents to medical records for diagnosis coding.
- Manages billing and appointment queues.
- Notifies the clinic manager of any authorization difficulties or patient financial hardships.
- Provides administrative support for department, performing various clerical duties including filing, copying, etc. as needed. Delivers, picks up and distributes daily mail.
- Orders, restocks, and maintains adequate office supplies within an established budget.
- Monitors and maintains safe and tidy patient waiting and staff work areas in accordance with infection control standards and safety protocols.
- May disassemble patient charts and send them to off-site storage as needed.
- Performs open and close duties, which vary from clinic to clinic.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 2 years of office/administrative support experience
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and attention to detail
DESIRED for the position:
- Experience in a medical of hospital environment
- Medical terminology
