Welcome.US is growing its Finance team. This team is responsible for upholding the financial stability and success of the organization which includes managing the day to day accounting and financial operations of the organization, leading the annual audit and budget processes, financial reporting, grant financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and overseeing all compliance, regulatory requirements and internal controls. ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant will be responsible for the following:
Accounting and Finance:
- Performing transaction-oriented accounting duties in a full accrual, fund based accounting environment
- Managing general ledger activity including but not limited to completing complex journal entries to properly account for costs and adjustments, completing reconciliations and recording transactions as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process
- Transitioning all prior accounting transactions into new accounting software
- Entering all accounts payables
- Recording all credit card transactions for multiple credit card accounts and performing monthly reconciliations
- Identifying accounting errors, research technical issues, and proactively resolve issues
- Recording payroll and completing payroll allocations by class and funder
- Maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Entering organizational budgets into accounting software
- Issuing tax receipt letters to donors for all donations over $250
- Processing annual 1099 statements and completing 1096 reporting
- Maintaining fixed asset schedule
- Recording all in-kind revenue and expenses
- Assisting Director of Finance with pre-audit schedules and participating in annual audit process
- Assisting Director of Finance with grant budgeting and grant reporting
- Performing under limited supervision a wide variety of accounting and financial tasks
Other:
- Organizing and maintaining efficient and accurate electronic accounting records, transactions, and backup documentation in cloud based accounting software systems
- Assisting Director of Finance with special projects
- Completing other duties as assigned
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following skills, experience, and characteristics:
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred
- Strong technical accounting skills required
- 3+ years of nonprofit accounting experience required
- Proficiency in Quickbooks Online
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Experience using Google Workspace
- Prior experience with accounts payable and spend and expense platforms like Bill.com or Concur.
- Prior experience with grant expense tracking, reporting, budgeting and management preferred
- Prior experience with in-kind donations, in-kind expense tracking and employee giving preferred
- Strong organizational skills, extremely detail oriented and ability to multitask while maintaining vigilant attention to details
- Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage tasks and resolve roadblocks as they arise
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach to work
- A “no task too small” mentality to achieve results
- A growth mindset, taking responsibility for continuous performance improvement
- Willingness to bring ideas and openness to feedback
- Flexible with change and ability to pivot
- Experience and desire to work remotely, across time zones, and with a remote supervisor

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Welcome.US is a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA). The salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000. Welcome.US/RPA offers 20 days vacation plus a winter break between Christmas Eve and New Years Day, unlimited sick time, health insurance, retirement benefits including a 3% match, 11 paid federal holidays, and access to professional development resources.
