THE OPPORTUNITY
Based in San Francisco and reporting to the VP of Finance, VIR is looking for a Director, FP&A to support our Research organization, including all early discovery and pre-clinical development activities. You will serve as trusted financial advisor to our Chief Scientific Officer and her leadership team, providing critical financial forecasting, reporting, and insights. The position requires strong excel, analytical, and cross functional collaboration skills, with a sound understanding of the biopharmaceutical development lifecycle.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Responsible for all aspects of Research financials, including budget, forecast, long-range plan, early pipeline financials, scenario analysis, and ad hoc analysis
- Be a trusted finance business partner for Chief Scientific Officer and the Research Leadership Team; be the subject matter expert in major spend commitment and upcoming inflection points
- Support in preparation and administration of Company annual budget and forecast, monitor Research spend through PO approval and actuals reporting to ensure tracking to budget and latest forecasts
- Evaluate financial implications of collaborations, Sponsored Research Agreements, and other external partnerships to ensure organization has a clear line of sight into major upcoming commitments
- Support evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and system upgrades
- Proactively gather, analyze, prepare, and ensure awareness and alignment on key Research department financial insights
- Suggest, design, and implement enhancement to existing processes and reporting
- Support ad hoc analysis and projects across the organization
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related fields with 7+ years of experience in biotech finance related roles
- Experience with pharmaceutical drug development process experience
- Excel power user, experience with Netsuite, Adaptive Insights, and Coupa a plus
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP accounting and SOX requirements
- Track record of effectively partnering across the organization with a collaborative style working across internal and external teams

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER
The expected salary range for this position is $186,500 to $272,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
